An internationally recognized Brazilian singer-songwriter and pianist, Mateus represents the modern evolution of Brazilian jazz. As noted by critic C. Michael Bailey, she is “part of the front-facing evolution of Brazilian music as it projects into the twenty-first century.”

Since arriving in New York City in 2012, Angelita has built an impressive career, highlighted by her debut album Vivenda(2017), which reached #24 on the JazzWeek Charts and featured renowned guitarist Romero Lubambo. She followed with Mixed Feelings (2018), debuting the album at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola to sold-out audiences and critical acclaim. Her artistry has also been showcased on prestigious stages, including NPR’s A Jazz Piano Christmas at the Kennedy Center alongside celebrated musicians.
